Massage therapy is one of the oldest healing arts. It has become an important part of general health care for many people living in today's stressful world.
Traditional healthcare systems throughout the world recognize that therapeutic massage can play an important role in treating illness or chronic ailments, and contribute to a higher sense of general well-being.
At the Broward General Medical Center Wellness Center our goal is to offer a variety of services that are suitable for each individual. Our therapist is trained to understand the mind, body, spirit connection and their part in the facilitation of the healing and balance process. Take time to experience the benefits of massage, which will make a difference in both how you feel about yourself and the world around you.
The Wellness Center offers:
Swedish massage is the most common form of massage that uses techniques on superficial layers of muscles, and sometimes active and passive movements of the joints. It is used to promote general relaxation, improve circulation and range of motion, and relieve muscle tension.
Hot stone massage is the use of stone on the body with gentle pressure. The warmth is comforting. This is great for people with knots or muscle tension but prefer lighter massage. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The therapist also uses them to massage certain areas of the body.
Neuromuscular massage is a form of deep massage that is applied to individual muscles. It is used primarily to release trigger points (intense knots and muscle spasms in the body). It usually focuses on more specific areas.
Aromatherapy massage is massage therapy with the addition of one or more scented oils to address specific needs. The massage therapist can select oils that are relaxing, energizing, stress-reducing, balancing, etc. Aromatherapy massage is suited for stress-related conditions or conditions with an emotional component.
Thai massage aligns the energies of the body using gentle pressure on specific points. The therapist moves and stretches you into a sequence of postures. Thai massage is more energizing than other forms of massage. It also reduces stress and improves flexibility and range of motion.
Reflexology involves applying pressure to certain points on the foot that correspond to organs and systems in the body. Reflexology is very relaxing, especially for people who stand on their feet all day or have tired, achy feet.
