Preparing for surgery:
The registration office will call you prior to the day of you surgery to inform you if a deposit is required. If you have insurance, please bring your card and picture id. Please leave all valuables at home or with a friend or family member. We are not responsible for lost valuables.
If you routinely take medication, check with your physician to see if you should take them on the day of surgery. Example: Blood pressure, heart or diabetes medications.
Be sure to tell your surgeon if you are taking medication or aspirin/aspirin-like products on a regular basis, you will be told when to continue their use.
Bring all orders or written instructions, results of lab tests. X-ray results, medical clearance and EKG results given to you by your physician with you to the hospital.
If you feel ill or experience any physical change in your condition before your surgery, contact your physician immediately.
Make arrangements for an adult to accompany you home and to assist you as you recuperate at home.
You need to arrange for a responsible licensed driver to accompany you home, as you will not be allowed to drive or leave alone by bus or taxi. You may feel dizzy and sleepy after surgery. You will not be discharged or surgery will be cancelled if you do not have a licensed driver escort.
DO NOT eat or drink anything (including water) after midnight the night before your surgery.
DO NOT eat or drink anything (including water) in the morning before coming to the hospital. Do not eat hard candy, mints or chew gum.
Stop smoking at least 12 hours prior to surgery. Do not drink any alcoholic beverages for at least 48 hours prior to surgery.

Also, if you have not been contacted by the registration office within 48 hours prior to surgery, please call (954) 355-5065 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
