Robotic Radiosurgery System
The Broward Health CyberKnife® - the only one of its kind in Broward County - will further differentiate North Broward Medical Center as the region's leading Radiation-Oncology Center of Excellence.
Our CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery team is led by Dr. Anurag Agarwal, Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. He has been treating patients with the CyberKnife since 2001. He trained at Harvard Medical School's Mass. General Hospital and at the University of Pittsburgh. Both institutions are internationally recognized in the field of radiosurgery.
The CyberKnife is a highly specialized treatment for cancer. It is the world's only robotic radiosurgery system designed to treat tumors anywhere in the body non-invasively with sub-millimeter accuracy and real-time tumor tracking. Unlike conventional stereotactic radiosurgical systems, the CyberKnife uses image-guidance and computer controlled robotics to deliver multiple beams of high-energy radiation to the tumor from virtually any direction. The robotic arm-mounted radiation therapy system can be used to treat a number of cancers including the brain, prostate, lung, spine, pancreas, liver, head and neck, and others. In addition, the robotic arm is able to follow a patient's movement, resulting in less constraints on the patient during treatment.
CyberKnife patient benefits:

- Non-invasive
- No anesthesia required
- Outpatient procedure
- No recovery time
- Immediate return to normal activity
- No invasive head or body frame
