CSMC's Pediatric Surgical Services Department is located in The Children's Place. It is equipped to handle a broad range of surgical procedures, from an outpatient tonsillectomy to a complicated orthopedic surgery. In addition to pediatric surgeons and surgical subspecialists, the nursing and anesthesia staffs are specifically trained and prepared for pediatric care.

Same-Day Unit

In a hospital known for its expertise in the care of children, it is no surprise that the surgical team caters to this special population as well. The Same Day Unit, with its five private pediatric rooms, offers special services to ensure that the experience is as calming as possible for both parent and child.

Pediatric Surgical Preparation Program

To prepare young children for their experience, Coral Springs Medical Center provides a Pediatric Surgical Preparation Program. Are you not sure how to talk to your child about his/her upcoming surgery? Are you afraid that giving too much information may upset your child?

For children over 3 1/2 years, we offer the opportunity for one parent to be present in the operating room when the child is sedated. Both parents can join the child in the recovery room, meaning that the only time the child is separated is when he is actually asleep. This practice goes a long way toward reducing anxiety for both the parents and the child.
