The CyberKnife® may be right for you if:

Your lesion or tumor is inoperable or surgically complex

You have previously undergone extensive radiation treatments

You are looking for an alternative to surgery

You are elderly or otherwise in compromised health

Unlike conventional stereotactic radiosurgical systems, the CyberKnife® uses image-guidance and computer controlled robotics to deliver multiple beams of high-energy radiation to the tumor from virtually any direction. The robotic arm-mounted radiation therapy system can be used to treat a number of cancers including the brain, prostate, lung, spine, pancreas, liver, head and neck, and others. In addition, the robotic arm is able to follow a patient's movement, resulting in less constraints on the patient during treatment.

CyberKnife® Patient Benefits:

Pain-free

Non-invasive

No anesthesia required

Outpatient procedure

No recovery time

Immediate return to normal activity

No invasive head or body frame

No breath holding during treatment

Minimal use of fiducials - implanted markers

Reports show there were 427 residents who called into the phone bank between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m -- the highest volume of any interactive special to date. The actual Cancer Special aired from 7:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and highlighted our top cancer services and physicians. Stories like that of pediatric cancer survivor, Sophia Pouliot, and the technology spot about CyberKnife truly captivated the audience.

This special was excellent media coverage for Broward Health. Not only did it create brand awareness, but it really boosted our reputation as a world class healthcare system. With chemotherapy, radiation and other infusion treatments, there's usually ailing side effects that can be worse than the cancer itself. With the CyberKnife, patients only need to undergo an average of 3-5 treatments compared to a possible 15+ with chemotherapy or radiation. Less treatments mean less time away from home, less travel time, and less overall stress - a huge benefit to the patient. Direct benefits of using the CyberKnife are many. It's:
