As a volunteer at the Broward Health Medical Center Auxiliary gift shop. 86 year old Norma Waters has shared smiles with the patients, staff and physicians at BHMC for over 30 years.

Rozen Patterson
Rozen Patterson, a retired high school principal, began volunteering at Broward Health Medical Center in 2006. She has worked throughout the hospital – in the waiting rooms of the ICU, ER, Women’s Center and outpatient rehab, and in the gift shop.

Megan Alfieri

Megan Alfieri, 21, started volunteering at Broward Health North in August 2013 so that she could experience firsthand the nursing lifestyle.

Josephine D’ Espies
Josephine “Jo” D’Espies has worked at the Broward Health North Auxiliary since 1990, serving as president for the last six years.

Medical Residencies Key to New doctors in South Florida
A shortage of medical residency programs in South Florida is making it difficult to meet the region's need for more new doctors as the growing population ages. Of 128 residents trained since 2005 at Broward Health, 91 practice in Florida and 39 remained in Broward, said Dr. Natasha Bray, who heads the graduate medical education program at Broward Health.
