Friends of Gilda's Palm Beach is Hosting April Luncheon
The Friends of Gilda's Palm Beach is hosting its second Red Door Luncheon on Friday, April 27th at the Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton and is extending an invitation to everyone who would like to show support for Gilda's Club South Florida. Governor Rick Scott Appoints Debbie Kohl to Board of Commissioners, North Broward Hospital District
Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Debbie L. Kohl to the Board of Commissioners, North Broward Hospital District. Kohl, 53, of Tamarac, is the chief financial officer of Broward Bank of Commerce. She succeeds Rhonda Calhoun and is appointed for a term beginning March 29, 2012, and ending May 7, 2014. 2012 Economic Yearbook - Southeast Florida Economic Indicators
Proposals by a state commission could mean major changes for the county's two taxpayer-funded hospital districts, Memorial Healthcare System and Broward Health, the county's largest healthcare systems. Broward Ranks Low in Getting Mammograms
Broward County lags behind much of Florida in Medicare-age women getting mammograms to detect breast cancer, a new health ranking finds. The weak showing in Broward may have been lowered by retirees who get mammograms up north before coming to Florida for the winter, said Dr. Nicholas Tranakas, medical director of cancer services at Broward Health. Voters Get a Say on Sale of Public Hospitals
Voters or state officials would have to say yes before the North Broward Hospital District could convert its four public hospitals into a nonprofit organization, under legislation signed Friday by Gov. Rick Scott. Leaders of the taxing district have talked for 18 months about creating a nonprofit group to take over the operation, asserting it would save money and be more efficient.
