The certification award recognizes Broward Health North’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s best practice standards supported by evidenced-based medicine.  BHN underwent a rigorous on-site review in mid December.

A Joint Commission expert evaluated the program for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of spine surgery patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management and rehabilitation.

"We are very proud to be the first spine program in south Florida to be awarded this certification,” said Pauline Grant, CEO of BHN.  “Achieving Joint Commission certification for our spine care program is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually providing a five-star experience to all of our patients.”

"In achieving Joint Commission certification, Broward Health North has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients in the spine program," says Jean Range, M.S., R.N., C.P.H.Q. executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process and I commend Broward Health North for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”

Broward Health North also attained the following certifications from The Joint Commission:  Alzheimer’s Disease-first and only in the nation; Hip and Knee Replacement-first in Broward County, Stroke Rehabilitation-first in Florida, Stroke Care-first in Northern Broward County.
