Dr. Doris Peek Joins Elite Group of IT Leaders

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Broward Health Chief Information Officer Dr. Doris Peek has been named a 2014 Premier 100 IT Leaders honoree by International Data Group's Computerworld. The Premier 100 program spotlights technology and business leaders for their exceptional leadership and innovative approaches to business challenges.

Under Doris’ direction, the information technology department (IT) brought together key business stakeholders and vendor partners to transform the delivery of healthcare information technology services and lay the infrastructure for new initiatives at Broward Health.

“For the past seven years, Doris has brought leadership and a solid vision for the application of information technologies to Broward Health,” said Frank Nask, President/CEO of Broward Health. “This achievement reaches beyond healthcare to highlight her accomplishments across many business platforms on an international level.”

Leveraging various technologies, Broward Heath’s IT department extended its network and storage configuration to a colocation site to provide an integrated, high-availability managed computing ecosystem. By using a cloud-based platform, the IT department transformed its service delivery to its four acute-care hospitals, children’s hospital, level 1 regional trauma center, satellite clinics, and physician practices by consolidating service delivery to a single system of record for service management. The improvements resulted in stronger business continuity strategies, a robust medical grade network, a single sign-on solution for physicians, and a more secure environment for mobile computing.

"These IT executives are driving technology innovation in business, education and government across the country and around the world," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Technology advances quickly, and these leaders excel at keeping pace with the changing needs of customers and employees, and making fast technology decisions that map to their organizations' top priorities. They have developed a deep bench of talented IT staffers at their organizations and managed to keep their own skills fresh by constantly mastering new technologies and processes. We are privileged to recognize the leadership and achievements of the 2014 Premier 100 honorees."

The awards ceremony will be held during Computerworld’s annual Premier 100 IT Leadership Conference, to be held March 2-4, 2014, at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona. The Conference will showcase honorees and other IT innovators as they discuss how to create competitive IT organizations.  For more information, visit

About the Premier 100
The Premier 100 program was created in 2000 to spotlight individuals who have had a positive impact on their organizations through technology. These are individuals who manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate their IT teams and business colleagues, create a positive work environment, envision innovative solutions to business challenges and effectively manage and execute IT strategies. Each year, nominees are invited to complete a questionnaire that addresses a number of topics, including their background and experience and their attitude toward risk and innovation. Using Computerworld’s IT Leader Index, which is a measurement of how closely an individual matches our definition of the IT Leader, we analyze the data. Each year, 100 honorees are selected to receive this life-time recognition award. Information on previous honorees can be viewed here.
