Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Broward Health is pleased to announce Lori Perlman as the new vice president of managed care. 

Perlman has served as the director of managed care for the health system since 1991 and has more than 30 years of experience in the managed care industry. She oversees the development, implementation and administration of all managed care contracts, the development of business of payers for all Broward Health facilities, employed physicians, ancillary providers and networks, and will guide the strategic alignment and integration of Broward Health’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO).

“Lori has the proven expertise and leadership needed to direct Broward Health through the development of our ACO program,” said Robert Martin, CFO of Broward Health. “She is a natural for this role and I am confident that she will help Broward Health continue to provide our patients with world-class care.”

Perlman began her career at CIGNA Healthcare of South Florida, a national health maintenance organization and insurance company. Originally a Healthcare Center Administrator, Lori eventually became the Manager of Provider Relations, where she developed and managed a South Florida provider network for multiple insurance products, managed a joint venture with a third party administrator, and helped transition the provider network from a Staff Model HMO to an Independent Practice Association.

In an effort to better manage the health of populations served, achieve efficiencies in care delivery and improve overall experience and satisfaction of patients and their families, Broward Health has formed Broward Health ACO Services, Inc. As an ACO, Broward Health plans to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program beginning on January 1, 2015.
