Dr. Nabil El Sanadi Honored at EMS Conference in Orlando

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Dr. Nabil El Sanadi, chief of emergency medicine for Broward Health, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue’s medical director and chairman of the Florida Board of Medicine, was recently recognized for his efforts in advancing emergency medical services (EMS) education in the state of Florida by the Florida Association of EMS Educators (FAEMSE), whose mission is to be the foremost resource within Florida’s EMS educational community.

“Anyone who knows Dr. El Sanadi is aware of his energy, passion and dedication in furthering all facets of EMS, especially when it comes to education,” said Sheriff Scott Israel.

At FAEMSE’s quarterly meeting in Orlando, Fla., Dr. El Sanadi was honored for his role as co-founder of FAEMSE. Dr. El Sanadi and paramedic David LaCombe led the creation of FAEMSE. LaCombe approached Dr. El Sanadi with the idea of a statewide training vehicle to enhance EMS education. With that thought, Dr. El Sanadi committed time and resources to jumpstart the group, which now has 175 public and private sector members.

“I was deeply touched to be honored by the body that was created to consolidate educators for EMS. It was a moment that showed the fruit of our labors, how a small, informal group of three or four members grew into an officially sanctioned state Department of Health forum of 150-plus members,” said Dr. El Sanadi.

Through FAEMSE, many EMS milestones have been set, and minimum standards of care have been redefined. By enhancing members’ skill sets, FAEMSE has raised the bar for all EMS responders, including areas such as resuscitation guidelines and pre-hospitalization hypothermia administration and stroke care.
