Broward General Medical Center and Kindred Hospital Fort Lauderdale make transfer agreement make transfer agreement

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – Earlier this month two of South Florida’s premier healthcare providers, Broward Health and Kindred Healthcare, collaborated by means of a “transfer agreement” to offer their patients the most appropriate, cost effective and quality care possible.

The transfer agreement allows for acute care patients at Kindred Hospital Fort Lauderdale to be transferred to Broward General Medical Center when high-level diagnostic and/or surgical services are required and cannot be performed in the long-term acute care hospital environment.

Kindred Hospital Fort Lauderdale is a 70-bed long-term acute care hospital that specializes in the care of medically complex patients particularly in the areas of respiratory management, wound care, infectious disease and stroke/cardiac rehabilitation. Kindred patients come from short-term acute care hospitals, like Broward General Medical Center, when they require further hospitalization before moving on to lower levels of care.

Many local physicians serve on the medical staffs at both facilities.

“We are pleased that this agreement will offer our patients a higher of level services in a cost-effective manner,” said Jason Zachariah, CEO of Kindred Hospital Fort Lauderdale. “This not only strengthens our partnership with Broward General Medical Center , but also allows our patients to benefit from the high quality care available at Broward General.”

Broward General’s CEO James Thaw agrees. “We are delighted to once again partner with Kindred Healthcare, our counterpart in long-term acute care. This agreement sustains the efforts that both Broward Health and Kindred Healthcare are continuously making to provide our community with superlative healthcare options.”

Broward Health, providing service for more than 50 years, is a nationally recognized system offering world-class healthcare services to our neighbors in South Florida.
