Miami Dolphins’ Wives and Girlfriends Bring Holiday Cheer to Patients at CECH
Ft. Lauderdale, FL - For most kids, the December holidays mean time spent at home, surrounded by family and friends. But at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, many of the young patients are too sick to return home for the holidays.
So this year, the holiday spirit was brought to them.
On Wednesday, December 2, the wives and girlfriends of the Miami Dolphins players and coaches visited the Chris Evert Children's Hospital, bearing bright smiles and bags of Dolphins-themed toys and other keepsakes to bring cheer to the children in the pediatric unit and the pediatric hematology/oncology unit.
While at the hospital, the women talked and played with children from each unit. “These kids have been through so much, yet remain positive,” said Jeanette Sparano, wife of Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano. “I feel blessed to have been able to spend time with them.”
“The children were thrilled by the visit – their faces just lit up,” said Katie Anderson, Child Life Community Relations Specialist at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital. “They treated the kids like their own and brightened the entire units day.”
