BH's Heart Chief, Michael A. Chizner, MD, Named One of America's Top Doctors, Again
Ft. Lauderdale, FL - Broward Health is proud to announce that Michael A. Chizner, M.D., noted cardiologist and Chief Medical Director of The Heart Center of Excellence, has been named by his peers as one of America’s Top Doctors for the second year in a row.
The America’s Top Doctors guide, published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., serves as an authoritative reference to consumers looking for the nation’s top medical specialists. It is compiled by nominations from over 250,000 physicians nationwide, and focuses on the top 1 percent of the more than 700,000 specialists and sub-specialists in the country.

Dr. Chizner graduated with highest honors from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his internship and residency at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and his cardiology fellowship with the legendary cardiologist W. Proctor Harvey, M.D. at Georgetown University, where he later received the distinguished alumnus award.
Dr. Chizner has been practicing cardiology in Fort Lauderdale for more than three decades. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the sub-specialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Chizner is currently a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Barry University.
He has authored and edited numerous articles and textbooks that have become standards in cardiovascular education. His most recent best-selling book entitled Clinical Cardiology Made Ridiculously Simple is now being used in medical schools throughout the United States and abroad.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Chizner was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist to the Florida Board of Medicine, where he served for the past two years as Chairman of the Credentials Committee, and recently was elected by his fellow board members as Vice Chairman of the Board.
