Wednesday, June 30, 2010 - The Grainger Foundation Donates $10,000 to Broward Health Foundation to Update the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital Playroom

Ft. Lauderdale, FL - Broward Health Chris Evert Children’s Hospital recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil a newly upgraded hematology/oncology playroom. The upgrades, which include a flat-screen television, a DVD player, furniture, and a variety of video and board games as well as arts and craft supplies, were made possible through a $10,000 donation to the Broward Health Foundation from the Grainger Foundation in support of its mission to provide family-centered care for newborns, neonates, children, and youth.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the generosity of the Grainger Foundation and their desire to help make the hospital stays of our pediatric cancer patients more comfortable,” said Michael S. Long, president of the Broward Health Foundation.  This donation was recommended by David Maintainer, Branch Manager of W.W. Grainger, Inc.’s Pompano Beach location. Grainger has been a part of the Fort Lauderdale business community for more than 50 years as the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair, and operating products.  “We are proud to recommend the programs offered by the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital,” said Maintainer. “We understand the need to support the children and families who are afflicted with serious illness.”

The Grainger Foundation, an independent, private foundation based in Lake Forest, Illinois, was established in 1949 by William W. Grainger, founder of W.W. Grainger, Inc.
