Friday, September 17, 2010 - Coral Springs Medical Center Auxiliary Announces Scholarship Recipients

CORAL SPRINGS, FL - The Coral Springs Medical Center (CSMC) Auxiliary Scholarship Award Committee recently awarded eight scholarships totaling $12,000 to local college students who are continuing their education in the medical field.

Janet DiStanislao, Auxiliary chairwoman of the scholarship awards committee, and her committee agreed that the selection process was a difficult one. “We selected students based on superior academics, financial need and their decision to seek a degree in the medical field,” said DiStanislao.

The following students are the scholarship recipients that have been selected from a competitive pool of applicants: Raquel Caysido (Florida State University/Nursing), Jenny Esposito (Florida Atlantic University/Psycology), Christopher Loy (Florida Gulf Coast University/Physical Therapy), Jeffrey Marks (Florida Atlantic University/Pharmacy), Ashley Thomas (University of Florida/ Medicine), Chris Thomas (University of Florida/Pharmacy), Brook Tracy  (Florida A & M University/Nursing) and Natalie Yoguel (Florida State University/Nutrition). 

The Auxiliary is a nonprofit organization that raises money with weekly book sales and other activities. The annual scholarships are exclusively funded from book sales. Scholarship committee members include Sheila Steinberg, Sally Allen, Colette Wilbur, and CC Banks. Scholarship applications for 2011 awards are available at the Coral Springs Medical Center Auxiliary office in the hospital as well as at most of the local universities.  To be eligible for the award, applicants must be dedicated to the medical field and must be a resident of Broward County.  For more information call (954) 344-3381.
