Monday, November 29, 2010 - Dr. Brian Cross Receives Humanitarian Award from The Rotary Club of Weston

The Rotary Club of Weston has selected Dr. Brian Cross as the winner of the 2010 Humanitarian Award, the first award of its kind presented by the Club. The award was presented at a breakfast awards reception by The Rotary Club of Weston on November 18.

Dr. Cross, who practices orthopedic surgery at Broward General Medical Center, was selected by the Rotary Club of Weston based on the medical service he provided to earthquake victims in Haiti in the critical days following the quake. He performed over 100 surgeries during his four day stay. “Despite primitive conditions, we did not have one person die in the operating room,” noted Dr. Cross.

“The work that Dr. Cross accomplished in Haiti exemplifies the motto of the Rotary Club, which is ‘service before self’,” said Nugene Harvey, president of The Rotary Club of Weston.

“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from The Rotary Club of Weston,” said Dr. Cross.
