The Heart Gallery of Broward County and Broward General Medical Center Team Up to Promote Adoption for Children in Foster Care
Fort Lauderdale, FL - During the month of June, a very special exhibit of photographs will be on display at Broward General Medical Center. The photographs are part of a traveling exhibit from The Heart Gallery of Broward County, a nonprofit organization that helps to find adoptive homes for children in foster care. The goal of the exhibit is to create awareness about the need for adoptive parents.
The exhibit travels throughout the county and can also be viewed online at www.heartgalleryofbroward.org. Each child’s photograph is a thoughtful, vibrant portrait captured by a professional photographer, free of charge. Following the example of the original Heart Gallery, which began in New Mexico in 2006, the Heart Gallery of Broward County has grown to include more than 120 locations across the county. The Heart Gallery of Broward County works with local agencies to connect them with prospective adoptive parents.
“Our mission is to help heal the children of our community,” said James Thaw, Chief Executive Officer of Broward General Medical Center and the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital. “By supporting the work of The Heart Gallery of Broward County, we can help children beyond the walls of our hospital. We hope that this exhibit will help make more people aware of the need for a loving, supportive, and permanent home environment for children living in foster care.”
The exhibit will be on display at Broward General Medical Center until July 5, 2011.
