Commissioner Rhonda Calhoun Elected to American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Rhonda Calhoun, chair of the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners, has been elected as a regional trustee alternate delegate to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board. Commissioner Calhoun’s term with the Regional Policy Board will be effective Jan. 1, 2012, through Dec. 31, 2014. She has been a Broward Health commissioner since 2006.
As a Regional Policy Board delegate, Commissioner Calhoun will participate in discussions regarding policy issues and alternatives. The board’s recommendations and analyses are used by the American Hospital Association’s board in policy deliberations.
Commissioner Calhoun is the executive director of Broward League of Cities. From 1994 to 2006 she served as a commissioner and as vice mayor for the City of Coral Springs. A former paralegal, she was previously vice chair of the board for the Coral Springs City Centre, vice chair of the Planning and Zoning Board and a member of the Economic and Development Task Force. She has held several leadership positions with the Florida and National League of Cities.
A graduate of Leadership Florida XIV, Commissioner Calhoun has received civic and public service honors and recognitions from the Anti-Defamation League, Legal Aid of Broward County and the American Business Women’s Association. In addition, she is a member of the Coral Springs Medical Center Community Relations Council and was significantly involved in the creation of Coral Springs Medical Center's Pediatric Drowning Prevention Task Force.
