Wednesday, July 16, 2014 - NFL Punter Brandon Fields and wife Katie Get Kids Moving at Fitness Camp

Coconut Creek, FL – More than 90 energetic kids ran, danced, jumped and ducked their way to better health at Broward Health Fields Fit Fest, held on the campus of Junior Achievement of South Florida in Coconut Creek on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. The event is the principal offering of the Brandon & Katie Fields Youth Fitness Fund, founded by NFL punter Brandon Fields and his wife, Katie. It is designed to teach kids aged between 5 and 11 fun and easy ways to be active every day.

"It's so important for kids to learn that there are many different ways to be physically active. Exercise and physical activity should be fun. We're here to help kids discover activities they enjoy so they can get their daily exercise even if they don't play a sport," said Brandon Fields.

More than 90 kids from the After School Program (ASP) participated in various activities during the 60 minutes of fun, including an obstacle course, Zumba, yoga and aerobic games.

The children heard from role models in the community, including current and former professional football players John Denney, Caleb Sturgis and Twan Russell, and were inspired to make healthy food choices by Broward Health Coral Springs pediatrician Dr. Edna Tello.

At the end of the event, participants pledged to make good choices and to be physically active every day. They received a certificate of completion as well as a goody bag containing health-related information, healthy snacks and giveaways.

"Broward Health is a proud supporter of Fields Fit Fest," said Sara Howley, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Broward Health. "Brandon and Katie are making a positive impact on the health of the children in Broward County and we are happy to be part of their efforts."
