Monday, May 05, 2014 - Volunteers Honor Moms at 6th Annual Mother’s Day Brunch to Benefit CDTC

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The CDTC Sunflower Circle of Friends is hosting its 6th Annual Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch to benefit Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) on Saturday, May 10th.  Proceeds from the event will benefit CDTC’s Primary Care Clinic, which cares for more than 2,800 children with chronic illnesses and disabilities as well as their siblings. Over the past five years, this dedicated group of volunteers has been able to raise over $110,000 to assist CDTC in caring for the medical needs of these children.

The CDTC Sunflower Circle of Friends created this event as a way to honor mothers of patients that receive services at the Center. The event is a wonderful opportunity for the entire family to celebrate mothers, grandmothers, and caretakers the day before Mother’s Day.

“This brunch is a great way to honor the special women in your life, as well as those mothers who work tirelessly to care for their children with special health care needs,” said Penny Vernon, Chair of the Mother’s Day Brunch.

This year, the family friendly brunch will be held in the Panorama Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. The event features a delicious buffet brunch, opportunities for fabulous raffle baskets and auction items as well as musical entertainment by talented acoustic jazz guitarist, Jorge Garcia accompanied by Julie Silvera.  Tickets are available HERE.

Sponsors for the event include 1st United Bank, Jim and Judy Ambrose, Berger Commercial Realty Corp., Castle Group, Concrete Reinforcing Products, Fundacion Deacero, Carolyn Greenlaw, The Harry Mangurian Jr. Foundation, JM Family Enterprises, Leo Goodwin Foundation, Audrey Millsaps, Fran and Ann Payne, Pilot Steel, Stuart Building Products, SunTrust Bank, Lorraine Thomas, Ira and Penny Vernon and Dr. Susan M. Widmayer with support from Commercial Printers, Thomas Oswald of Jam’n Designs, Cliff Frommer, and Hoffman’s Chocolate.

The CDTC Sunflower Circle of Friends is a support group of volunteers dedicated to raising awareness of the mission of CDTC and increasing volunteer support for its medical and family services.  Founded in 2004, Sunflower Circle of Friends has grown from 18 to nearly 100 members and contributed over to $320,000 to support CDTC. The group also provides teenagers and moms with holiday gifts, creates welcome bags for new families, stocks and maintains the CDTC Food Pantry, and assists in center-wide events such as the Back to School Drive and Thanksgiving Basket Brigade. Meetings are the third Thursday of every month at the Center and new members are welcome.
