Monday, April 02, 2012 - Debbie Kohl Appointed to Hospital District Board

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Florida Governor Rick Scott has appointed Debbie Kohl to the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners.  Kohl was appointed on March 29, 2012, and will serve through May 7, 2014. 

Kohl, of Tamarac, joins commissioners Joel Gustafson, Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Mike Fernandez, Richard Paul-Hus, David DiPietro and Clarence McKee in serving on the board that governs Broward Health. She replaces Rhonda Calhoun, who was the longest serving hospital district commissioner.

Kohl is the executive vice president/chief financial officer of Broward Bank of Commerce in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  She has more than 20 years of experience in banking, accounting and finance.  Kohl was senior vice president and controller at the Union Bank of Florida in Plantation, Fla., and also served as vice president of accounting and finance at Fort Lauderdale’s Capital Business Credit and chief financial officer of First Choice Credit Union in West Palm Beach, Fla. 

Kohl was instrumental in forming First Choice Credit Union’s foundation, Acts of Kindness for Kids, which provides assistance to medically, educationally and financially disadvantaged children in Palm Beach County.  She has participated in United Way, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society and Jack and Jill Children’s Center events.  She also serves as a volunteer with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.  

Kohl received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.  She later graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Master of Accounting degree.  In 2003, she received a Graduate Banking degree from Louisiana State University.  She is a certified public accountant.
