North Broward Medical Center Nurse Wins Nursing Excellence Award
Deerfield Beach, FL- Susan Barrow, Nurse Manager of Medical–Surgical Oncology at Broward Health North Broward Medical Center, was recently awarded Nursing Spectrum’s “2009 Florida Excellence in Management Award.” This accomplishment puts her in the running for Nursing Spectrum’s “National Nurse of the Year Award,” which will be announced in September.
“Susan is extremely deserving of this award,” said Donna Small, Chief Nursing Officer of North Broward Medical Center. “Her dedication, compassion and outstanding leadership and management skills are evidenced by her unit’s exceptional patient outcomes.”
Susan has been a member of the North Broward Medical Center family for 12 years. For the past four years she has worked as the Nurse Manager of the Medical/Surgical/Oncology and Hospice Unit located in the SE wing of the third floor. Prior to entering the world of healthcare, Susan was a banker in New York City. She decided to enter the medical field after joining the US Navy. As a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy, Susan received several awards, including the Navy Accommodation Award (twice) and the Good Conduct Award (four times).
