Dr. Michael Zahalsky Appointed Medical Director of Urological Oncology at NBMC
Deerfield Beach, FL – Broward Health North Broward Medical Center has appointed Dr. Michael P. Zahalsky Medical Director of Urological Oncology.
Dr. Zahalsky has been on staff at North Broward Medical Center since November 2005 and is a member of the Continuing Medical Education, Operating Room and Medical Surgical Review Committees. As Medical Director of Urological Oncology, he will serve as chief clinical/technical resource in matters pertaining to urological oncology as well as implement and monitor appropriate patient diagnostic and therapeutic measures, consult with other clinical professionals to assure a multi-disciplinary plan of care for each patient, perform quality management activities and provide community/professional education opportunities.
Dr. Zahalsky earned his medical degree and MMS in Epidemiology and Gerontology from Brown University. He came to South Florida and started his private practice in July 2005 following a dual fellowship at Boston University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his work included innovative treatments for male and female sexual dysfunction and the implementation of microscopic urological procedures. He is Board Certified through the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society for the Study for Male Reproduction and the Urology and the Endourological Society. He has published multiple chapters and articles in peer review journals, including Journal of Urology and Fertility and Sterility.
Dr. Zahalsky recently expanded his practice with the addition of Dr. Patrick Villicaña. Patrick Villicaña, M.D. is a Los Angeles native and fluent in Spanish. Dr. Villicaña earned his medical degree from Tufts University in Boston and spent five years at the University of Florida in Gainesville completing his training in Urology. Having spent a year doing medical research at the University of Miami and being involved in research projects during his residency program, Dr. Villicaña has presented several abstracts at Urologic conferences throughout the nation and had an article published in the Journal of Endourology regarding the daVinci™ Robotic Surgical System . A member of the American Urological Association, Dr. Villicaña’s main interests lie in the treatment of bladder cancer, laparoscopic and robotic surgery for kidney and prostate disease and minimally invasive surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia and kidney stone disease.
