Friday, January 28, 2011 - Broward Health’s 2011 Quality Expo Focuses on Process Improvement Initiatives

Teams from across Broward Health were able to tout their dedicated efforts and quality results at the 2011 Quality Expo.  The annual expo was held at the Signature Grand where a panel of judges from both Broward Health and the community reviewed the presentations and named winners in the storyboard and showcase categories.

The competition provides a public forum for regional teams to demonstrate the principles and techniques of solving problems, improving processes, reducing cycle time or costs, and contributing to Broward Health’s achieving performance excellence and meeting the mission and vision of becoming a world-class healthcare system.

The competition’s focus is to educate staff and leadership on the process improvement initiatives that have occurred throughout the Broward Health system and the individual teams’ accomplishments within the last year.  Broward Health attendees have a great opportunity to learn from the successes of others within the system.  Team participation in this event helps reward and recognizes team members for their outstanding efforts and contributions.  Typically, team projects fall into one of two categories: Problem-Solving Project or Improvement / Innovation Project.

Judging the entries were North Broward Hospital District Commissioner Joel Gustafson; Frank Nask, President/CEO of Broward Health; Dr. Georges Boutin, Interim Chief Medical Officer, Broward Health; Trina Robinson, NBC6;  and Kathleen Corso, WPLG Local 10.  Also in attendance were NBHD Commissioners Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson and Joseph Cobo.

“Congratulations to all the winners,” said Nask. “It was not an easy task choosing them.  All process improvement teams should be commended for their consistent focus and dedication to providing high quality health care every day at Broward Health.”

First Place – Imperial Point Medical Center: ‘A Building for a Better Future:  The IPMC ED Expansion Project’
