Saturday, December 10, 2011 - Broward Health North Broward Medical Center Approved for a $70 Million Make Over

Deerfield Beach, Fla. - Fifty seems like the perfect age for a $70 million makeover, and Broward Health North Broward Medical Center (BHNBMC) is eagerly anticipating its new look.

The North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners met in November to approve plans to renovate and update the facility. Renovations include a new emergency room, operating rooms and exterior. BHNBMC also anticipates converting 36 rooms into single-bed rooms for a total of 85 private rooms, modernizing and upgrading the central energy system to be greener and fortifying the facility against hurricanes. Renovations for some post-operative rooms have already begun.

“This is the first big renovation that’s been done at BHNBMC in a long time,” said Frank Nask, President/CEO of Broward Health. “We recently celebrated NBMC’s 50th anniversary, so it’s perfect timing to begin renovations. We are eager to transition to additional private rooms for patients.”

Broward Health, BHNBMC administration and physicians were involved in the assessment and development of plans to meet the needs of the community NBMC serves.

The construction is due to start early next year and last two to four years.  BHNBMC will continue to deliver world class health care throughout the renovations and does not anticipate any disruption of services.

“This is very exciting for the community, and we look forward and welcome these renovations, which will enhance our ability to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients,” said Pauline Grant, CEO of BHNBMC.
