Race for Women's Wellness Brings Free Mammograms to Needy Women
Coral Springs, Fla. - Broward Health Coral Springs Medical Center (BHCSMC) prepares for its 7th Annual Race for Women’s Wellness, Saturday, March 31st. This is in support of raising funds for the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund which provides free mammograms to women who otherwise would not be able to afford to get them.
“Whether you feel more comfortable walking or running, this year we want to engage the community more and make it about participation and less about competition. As a result, we are encouraging groups to come together and raise a minimum of $100 to sponsor at least one woman in her mammogram, however one group can sponsor as many women as they would like,” said Lisa Boccard.
The goal is to help raise $25,000 for the year to allow for at least 250 women get their mammograms. To bring some encouragement to the teams, awards will be given in three categories: Most People in a Team; Most Money Raised; and Best Team Theme. The race begins at 8:00 a.m.
As the walk/race ends, participants are invited to top off the celebration with fun, food and entertainment. For more information, please contact the Community Education Center at (954) 344-3344. Online registration is available at www.BrowardHealth.org/WomensRace or www.gflrrc.org.
