Profiles in Leadership
Chief Nursing Officer
Bettiann Ruditz has been at Broward Health North for the past 19 years and was recently named chief nursing officer. Ruditz’s first priority is to make sure the BHN nursing staff excels in patient safety and provides excellent customer service.
Regional Manager, Cardiology, Radiology and Respiratory Therapy
Dan Lowther has been at Broward Health North for the past nine years. As regional manager, his first priority is the administrative oversight of three departments; cardiology, radiology and respiratory therapy, which include 152 employees.
Chief Executive Officer
Alice Taylor, chief executive officer of Broward Health Imperial Point since January 2012, is a long-time member of the Broward Health family. Taylor served as chief operating officer at Broward Health Medical Center and Chris Evert Children’s Hospital from May 2007 to April 2010 and as the director of outpatient surgical services at BHMC from January 2003 to May 2007.
Chief Financial Officer
Susan Newton is the chief financial officer of Broward Health Imperial Point, a position she has held since 2006. Newton is responsible for planning, managing and evaluating the hospital’s processes to ensure optimal financial performance. Prior to joining BHIP, Newton served the Broward Health system as director of finance at Broward Health Medical Center for nine years.
Director of Women and Children
Rita Frantz, director of Women and Children at Broward Health Medical Center and Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, has been a dedicated member of the Broward Health team for over 35 years. A dynamic leader, Frantz works with the administrative and health care staff to provide strategic direction, leadership and support to ensure the delivery of quality, family-centered health care.

Genevieve Conroy Named Chief Experience Officer of Broward Health Medical Center
Genevieve (Gena) Conroy has been named chief experience officer of Broward Health Medical Center and Chris Evert Children’s Hospital. Previously, Conroy spent six years with The Ritz-Carlton in the United States and the Caribbean, where she oversaw marketing and business development at Ritz-Carlton properties in Philadelphia, Fort Lauderdale and St. Thomas, USVI. A Prom to Remember
On May 11, more than 200 teens with cancer from eight tri-county hospitals, including Broward Health, were treated to “A Prom to Remember” at the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale — the ultimate prom experience for teenagers who may be forced to miss their proms because of illness. In true South Florida style, the community pulled together to fully underwrite the event so no costs would be incurred by teens or their parents. “Everything from gowns to limos to the site is donated; it’s a community-wide effort,” said Jennifer Smith, corporate communications specialist for Broward Health. Bath Salts in Miami-Dade Not Used As Much As Rumored, Say Local Experts
Bath salt use has increased but is still less popular than other street drugs. Dr. Daniel Castellanos of Florida International University has queried area hospitals and treatment centers to find conclusive bath salt cases, meeting with directors of an addiction treatment program at Broward Health. District Challenges State on Medicaid Hospitalization Rule
State law requires counties to pick up the tab when Medicaid beneficiaries are in the hospital for more than 10 days, with the counties' responsibility lasting up to 45 days. But the North Broward Hospital District filed a petition Wednesday that says AHCA has been improperly requesting payment for hospitalization of children up to seven. Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center was among 27 nonprofits that received a grant through the Sun Sentinel Children's Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund. Children's Diagnostic & Treatment Center Kicks off Toy Drive
The Children's Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) Transformers, a group of local professionals dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the center, hosted their "Baby It's Warm Outside" cocktail party on July 25 at McSorley's Beach Pub to help kick off their two-month toy drive to benefit the CDTC's holiday toy drive fund. The Marine Industry Cares Foundation presented a check for $50,000 to Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center at a recent open house event at Timpano Italian Chophouse on Las Olas Blvd. The Foundation also donated to Kids in Distress during the event.. Groups Team Up To Help Breast Cancer Patients
The Glam-A-THON event season recently kicked off with a Pink Champagne Bubble Bash in Fort Lauderdale. The Glam-A-THON fund has helped more than 100 patients at the Lillian S. Wells Women's Health Center at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale and the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund at Broward Health Coral Springs.
