Broward Health Medical Center Receives Accreditation from The American College of Radiology
Accreditation Recognizes Hospital’s Commitment to Quality Patient Care
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Broward Health Medical Center (BHMC) has received accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for a three-year term. Accreditation has been granted for MRI, CT, PET, MRI, ultrasound and nuclear medicine. Each service offers specialized, noninvasive imaging to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. The accreditation recognizes the hospital's voluntary participation in a rigorous review process to ensure that it has met and exceeded nationally accepted patient care standards.
In addition, the Lillian S. Wells Women’s Health Center was awarded the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the ACR. This distinction recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
Breast imaging services at the Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that BHMC has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance.
“It is an honor to receive this designation, particularly during Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Calvin Glidewell, CEO of Broward Health Medical Center. “This accomplishment would not have been possible without the outstanding imaging staff and board-certified radiologists at BHMC. We are proud to offer excellence in image quality and higher standards of care to our patients.”
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists, with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
