Thursday, November 15, 2012 - Broward Health Honored For Community Philanthropy

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Broward Health was one of seven distinguished award winners at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Salute to Business Awards at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six on Wednesday, Nov. 7.  More than 400 business leaders and guests were in attendance as Broward Health President and CEO Frank Nask accepted the award for Philanthropic Work in the Community.

Among the community projects Broward Health is currently supporting is a new 7,200-square-foot building that will replace the existing Healthcare for the Homeless facility at 1100 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.  The new Bernard P. Alicki Health Center is scheduled to open in early 2013.

“We take our mission to provide quality health care to the people we serve very seriously,” said Nask. “In 1938, we started with one hospital and have grown to be a network of more than 30 facilities that serve our community.  We are honored to be recognized by the Chamber for the work that we do, and our commitment continues stronger than ever.”

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce celebrates businesses that have made a distinguished contribution to the community in the areas of entrepreneurship, globalization and international trade, community philanthropy, education and workforce development, diversity in business, and hospitality.

“Few organizations have been more generous than Broward Health when it comes to community philanthropy, and we honor this institution and its leadership for serving more than one million residents,” said Dan Lindblade, CAE, president and CEO of the Chamber. “Through its impressive network and foundation, Broward Health continues to make a significant contribution to our area.”
