Fort Lauderdale, FL – Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) was awarded $4,500 from the Fort Lauderdale Mustang Club’s Open Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show held on March 22, 2014. The Mustang Club selected CDTC as its sole car show beneficiary in 2011 and since then has helped secure over $14,000 to help provide medical care for children with special health care needs.

“We are so grateful for our partnership with the Fort Lauderdale Mustang Club. They are wonderful supporters year round and not just through their work at the car show,” said Dr. Ana E. Calderon Randazzo, executive director of CDTC.

Mark Patterson, president of the Fort Lauderdale Mustang Club said, “The Fort Lauderdale Mustang Club has been holding cars shows for over 20 years.  For the past several years, we have formatted our shows as charity fund raisers for the CDTC and couldn’t be happier or have found a better charity to help out.”

More than120 vehicles participated in the Open Car Show. CDTC client, 15-year-old Anthony, who has received services at the Center since birth for cerebral palsy, selected the “Best in Show.” Also in attendance was famed race car driver, and five-time racing champion, Andy Pilgrim.  Pilgrim was on-hand to sign autographs and promote safe driving with his new DVD “The Parent Driving Zone.”

"It was completely my privilege to be part of a great event.  Ana and her team do such amazing things at the CDTC. Anything I can do to help, I am more than willing and happy to do it," said Pilgrim.

The event was free to the public and included special displays from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, a 50/50 raffle, and silent auction items along with food and fun for the whole family.  The Fort Lauderdale Mustang Club is a nonprofit volunteer group of automobile enthusiasts dedicated to the Ford Mustang. They welcome all years and variants of this classic automobile. They drive, repair, maintain, modify, restore, race and most importantly enjoy their Mustangs. They also welcome their brethren with other Ford or Ford-powered vehicles anywhere in south Florida.
