Non-Profits Unite

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce non-profit members collaborate with one another to help each other and to empower the local community.  Featured was the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center with staff members Suzanne Higgins (Director of Development) and Ana Calderon (Assistant Administrator).  (Go Riverwalk, December 2009)


Fourth Annual Riverwalk Charity Golf Tournament

Riverwalk Trust’s Fourth Annual Charity Golf Tournament presented by Broward Health raised more than $30,000 to benefit the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Jack and Jill Children’s Center, and the Riverwalk Trust.  (Go Riverwalk, December 2009)


Doctor Focuses on Helping Children

Dr. Patricia Rowe-King, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Broward Health Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, volunteered to care for a 12-year-old boy who had a deadly neurological illness called Myasthenia Gravis.  The boy’s family had no health insurance and she was responsible for getting the boy’s care including medication for pro bono.  In the article, Rowe-King listed many of the hospital’s achievements.  (South Florida Times, December 15, 2009)


Rockettes Spread Holiday Cheer at CECH

Two dancers from the world-renowned Rockettes surprised the pediatric patients at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital with holiday visit.  The dancers spent time visiting with children in the pediatric unit and pediatric hematology/oncology unit bringing presents and sharing stories with the patients.  (Sun-Sentinel, Society Broward, December 16, 2009)


RMH Lights up This Holiday Season for Sick Children

The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Fort Lauderdale recently kicked off its sixth annual “Home for the Holidays” event.  The House lighting ceremony was presented by Broward Health, Martin Brower, and Seminole Casino Creek and raised more than $60,000 for the RMH of South Florida.  (Westside Gazette, December 17 to 23, 2009)

Winterfest Boat Parade

Broward Health Chris Evert Children’s Hospital sponsored its own booth at the Winterfest Boat Parade. On hand to welcome boat parade spectators were Cathy Meyer, Marketing Manager, BGMC, and Starsky, CECH mascot.  (WSVN Ch. 7, December 19. 2009)


Tiara Ball’s Ruby Anniversary Raises $100,000 for Cancer Research
