Friday, November 18, 2011 - Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center Only Hospital in Florida to Win National Top Performer Award

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center (IPMC) has been named Press Ganey’s 2011 Summit Award® winner. Press Ganey Associates, Inc. partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities - including 50 percent of all U.S. hospitals - to measure and improve quality of care.

The Summit Award recognizes top-performing facilities that sustain the highest level of core measure performance for three consecutive years. The Press Ganey Summit Award® is the health care performance improvement industry’s most coveted symbol of achievement bestowed annually. Imperial Point is one of only 11 organizations in the country to receive this honor - and the only one in Florida - for achieving and sustaining excellence in core measures performance.

“We are proud to partner with Imperial Point Medical Center whose innovative approach to improving clinical processes and outcomes helps to advance the quality of healthcare in Broward County,” said Robert Draughon, Press Ganey CEO.

“As an organization that adopted a total quality management philosophy in 2007, it is gratifying to see that our efforts have resulted in the level of performance that merits this kind of recognition. I am incredibly proud of our entire staff,” said Mark Sprada, interim CEO of IPMC.

Collaboration was achieved through the organized efforts of a multidisciplinary team which included representatives from the departments of anesthesia, surgery, pharmacy, same day surgery, surgical services, post anesthesia care, medical/surgical nursing, quality management and a physician champion. These teams designed processes to achieve and maintain core measures goals.

In addition to the reduction of surgical site infection rates and improving patient outcomes and core measures, staff has become increasingly empowered in the role of the patient advocate because of increased professionalism and confidence in knowing that they are “doing the right thing.”
