Fernando Narvaez, MD, has been a family medicine physician with Broward Health Physician Group since 2005.

Dr. Narvaez graduated from the University of Valle in Cali, Colombia, with a physician and surgeon degree. After completing his internship at University of Valle Hospital, Dr. Dr. Narvaez became a physician for Jose Maria Hernandez Hospital in Mocoa, Colombia, and later for the Family Medicine Medical Center in Cali. He was also the medical director of Occidental Petroleum de Colombia Inc. for five years.

Dr. Narvaez attended the University of Florida – Health Science Center in Jacksonville for his Family Medicine residency, where he was named chief resident. He performed emergency room triage and was a surgical assistant, house officer and physician assistant at hospitals throughout Miami. After completing his residency, Dr. Narvaez returned to South Florida and was in private practice for 6 years before he joined Broward Health.

Dr. Narvaez chaired the Family Practice Department for four years at Broward Health Coral Springs; he was also a member of the Credentials and Qualification Committee, Critical Care Committee and Patient Care Key Group. At Broward Health Imperial Point, Dr. Narvaez is a member of the Medicine Monitoring and Pharmacy and Therapy committees. He was the hospital’s Secretary of Medicine and is currently the Department of Medicine’s chair.

In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Narvaez is a clinical preceptor for Nova Southeastern University’s Department of Family Practice, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Department of Physician Assistant, College of Allied Health and Nursing.

Throughout his career, Dr. Narvaez has won a variety of awards. He is affiliated with the American Academy of Family Physicians, Florida Academy of Family Physicians and United States Colombian Medical Association, and Dr. Narvaez is fluent in English and Spanish.
