Dr. Ivan Puente has been Trauma Medical Director at Broward Health Medical Center since 1995 and has over 18 years of experience in treating trauma patients. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.
Dr. Puente graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Honors Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed his General and Vascular Surgery Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1992. Following residency, he completed fellowships in Surgical Critical Care in 1993 and Trauma Surgery in 1994 at Jackson Memorial.
Dr. Puente is Clinical Assistant Professor, Dept. of Surgery, at Nova Southeastern University School of Medicine and Instructor of Clinical Surgery at Miami Veterans Administration Hospital.
He is a member of the Trauma System Quality Improvement Committee for Broward County and a member of the Florida Committee of Trauma.
Dr. Puente is a surveyor for the Pennsylvania Trauma Center Verification Process.
