Ashok K. Sharma, MD, is the Medical Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology for Broward Health. Dr. Sharma specializes in cardiology with special interests in congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies and valvular heart disease.
Dr. Sharma has been in private practice since 1991 and is the founding member of Broward Heart Specialists, which was formed in 2002. He now serves as medical director of the Non-Invasive Cardiology and Congestive Heart Failure Clinics at Broward Health Medical Center’s Heart Center of Excellence.
Born in Kenya, Africa, Dr. Sharma received his undergraduate degree from Punjab University in Chandigarh, India. He received a medical degree from Nalanda Medical College in Patna, India.
Dr. Sharma completed a residency in Internal Medicine and was Chief Medical Resident at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his fellowship in Cardiology from St. Louis University Medical Center.
As a cardiologist, Dr. Sharma works closely with the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in organ donation and procurement. For his efforts, he was awarded the Luminaire Award by the Medical Center’s Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency.
Dr. Sharma is a Diplomate in Cardiovascular Diseases and has been published in medical journals.
