Frank P. Catinella, MD, is the Director of CVICU/Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Heart Center of Excellence.

Dr. Catinella received his medical doctorate degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York, NY. He graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Following graduation from New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Catinella served his internship in Surgery at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. His residency in General Surgery and Fellowship in Cardiovascular Research was at New York University Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn New York. He also completed residency in Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery and Fellowship in Peripheral Vascular Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian, St. Luke Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Catinella is a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the Association of Academic Surgery, American College of Chest Physicians, Broward County Medical Association, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Society and the Florida Medical Association.

Prior to joining Broward Health, Dr. Catinella was with the Heart Lung Surgical Institute of South Florida, LLP, in Fort Lauderdale.

Dr. Catinella currently sees patients at Broward Health Medical Center. One of his specific interests includes laser surgery for coronary heart disease. Dr. Catinella performs Transmyocardial Revascularization, a procedure that involves the use of state-of-the-art equipment.
