Broward Health is reviewing a varicella (chickenpox) exposure of patients and staff who presented to Cora E. Braynon Prenatal Department on October 14, 2016 between the hours of 10am to 3pm. The patient was also seen at Broward Health Medical Center on October 15, 2016. Broward Health has received confirmed a varicella lab report, which was reported to the Department of Health.
Broward Health has been investigating this matter rigorously. We have consulted with the Broward County Health Department, as well as a team of epidemiology and infection experts at Broward Health.
Broward Health has taken an extremely proactive approach to alert the local medical and patient community about the situation. In addition, Broward Health has established a patient hotline 954-320-2804.
