Bruce Davis

"Their Speed and Expertise Saved My Life"

Bruce Davis, 73, was at home when he started feeling unwell. The Parkland resident remained home for several days while he was experiencing shortness of breath, diarrhea and sweating. Bruce thought he had COVID-19 and could recover at home.

However, Bruce was actually experiencing a heart attack. When he arrived at Broward Health Coral Springs’ Emergency Department, the medical team immediately began providing lifesaving care, including conducting an electrocardiogram.

The emergency care team included Broward Health Physician Group interventional cardiologist Mohamed Osman, M.D., who performed an operation in the catherization lab to determine that Bruce had a blocked artery. During surgery, Bruce received a defibrillator and pacemaker.

“I was shocked about how quickly the team performed everything,” Bruce said. “I was overly impressed by the speed of the doctors and nurses. This is something that you see on TV. I know their speed combined with their expertise saved my life. Had I waited 25 more minutes to get to the hospital, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Bruce has returned to his active life as a pool contractor and his hobby of gardening. “My daily life is just as good as it was prior to this incident,” he said. “Nothing has changed, and I still feel just as good as I did before.”
