Three-year-old Mia Paton was rushed over to the Children’s ER at Broward Health Coral Springs with blood gushing from her head. She had tripped over a rug and gashed her head on a coffee table.
“We were frantic getting to the hospital hoping for the best, yet fearing the worst,” said Todd Paton, Mia’s father. “But once we arrived, we knew we were at a place that knows kids best. From the moment we walked in, the medical team had a child life specialist right at hand to help ease Mia's fears during all her examinations.”
Mia was quickly treated by pediatric specialists and was even designated a plastic surgeon to help suture her gash and avoid the least amount of scarring. “Literally every person we were in contact with was incredible,” said Todd.
The medical staff kept reassuring Todd that kids are resilient and that Mia would be fine in no time. “We can’t thank the medical team enough for the excellent care and compassion offered to us. As concerned parents, you never want to see your child in pain. You want to know that your child is in good hands—and she certainly was!”
Within a few days of the accident, Mia was back to jumping and playing with her two older sisters. And as for any scarring, it was like if nothing had ever happened.
