United Way Rising Above the Stigma Conference
Description
The United Way of Broward County Commission on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention developed and coordinated a Latino-focused initiative called Rising Above Stigma; Connecting the Dots and Providing Practical Tools for Behavioral Health Service Workers Working with the Hispanic Community. This four hour long presentation highlighted target groups within the Latino culture requiring additional sensitivity concerning primary and mental healthcare delivery in Latino communities within South Florida. Broward Health participated to gain additional advice and information on adverse childhood experience (ACE); behavioral health data, as well as deconstructing stigma with the Hispanic population.
