One of the most important facets of the community is to fully develop well rounded youth in local economically challenged communities within Broward County. The NBACDST and the Kappa Development League would like to equip youth with character and capacity building workshops, to make them more effective, strong leaders; thereby, benefitting the entire community on a long term basis. The conference provided approximately 90 high school age youth with an opportunity to obtain effective leadership skills, coping strategies, career readiness strategies, social media skills, as well as information on creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle via good, sound nutrition. In addition, the conference will make adolescents aware of various resources and options that are available to them from Broward Health and other community focused entities, such as the North Broward Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and The Kappa Foundation of Pompano Beach. Broward Health provide in-kind services as a healthy breakfast for 110 attendees consisting of pastry trays, whole fruit (apples and bananas), bottled water and assortment of fruit juice (apple and orange).
