What is your name and title?
Lisa Vieira, RN, BSN, LHRM. Administrative Supervisor in Nursing Administration.
How long have you worked at Broward Health?
6 months
Describe your typical work day.
My typical work day begins with a hand-off of the previous day's activities from my peers. This is followed by preparation and presentation of a status update of the past 24 hours of the facility's daily operational events. Then, we do facility-wide rounding with a purpose to role model Broward Health’s mission and values. This includes supporting all team members in identifying needs and issues, developing and building relationships, meeting with patients and families, lending a listening ear and helping hand, giving copious hugs with empathy, offering encouragement and solutions where viable, mopping a tear along the way (including a few of my own) and petting a furry friend as we cannot forget the value they bring to our daily mission.
What motivates you to come to work each day?
The organization, team and the community we serve. It is refreshing to work with people who listen, are open to discussing and finding solutions, encourage participation and innovation, and understand that there may be times we disagree, but place our service to our community at the forefront of all we do.
I live in Broward County, and being here has highlighted the plight of the homeless and mental health population compounded by the substance use challenges. Within the remit of my role and as a caring human being, anything I can do to bring light and hope into someone else's life, if it's a single person each day, is well worth the effort. I encourage everyone to reach out to a neighbor or someone in the community to offer help, even if it's a few kind words. Supporting the Broward Health Foundation in their mission to heal and maintain a healthy and safe community for future generations to come is also a priority.
How does your job contribute to Broward Health's mission of delivering quality, compassionate care?
Simply expressed, the administrative supervisors are the ambassadors and facilitators that ensure daily operations run smoothly through risk mitigation, problem solving and supporting the team to meet the needs of all our stakeholders.
