Sunrise, Florida -- Nearly 300 children and young adults received free vaccinations on Saturday, October 24, during the Second Annual Vaccinate Broward event, a collaboration driven by Broward Health, Memorial Healthcare System, and Community Care Plan, to help ensure that children and young adults in Broward County are fully vaccinated.
Vaccinate Broward, which took place at four select Broward Health and Memorial Primary Care locations in Broward County, offered vaccinations for children and young adults ages 4-20, including any child who had fallen behind on his or her vaccination schedule.
Vaccinations included:
o DTaP: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Acellular Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
o IPV: Inactivated Poliovirus
o MMR: Measles-Mumps-Rubella
o Varicella: Chickenpox
o HPV: Human Papillomavirus Infection
o Tdap: Tetanus, Diphtheria, Acellular Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
o Meningococcal: Meningitis
o Influenza: Flu
Broward Health, Memorial Healthcare System, and Community Care Plan launched Vaccinate Broward last year to help educate the public about disease prevention through vaccinations, dispel common misconceptions about vaccinations, and provide free vaccinations. The Vaccinate Broward initiative provides families with greater access to care through alternative locations for vaccination.
