Meet Alison
Name:Alison Miransky, MSW, CCM
Title and Department:Social Services Counselor, Broward Health Medical Center's Social Services Department
What I do at Broward Health: Having spent over the last dozen years working in the social services field, I've realized my passion lies in helping patients and their loved ones cope with life-limiting illnesses in a healthcare setting. My goal as a medical social worker is to transition patients to their next levels of care while efficiently mobilizing resources for a positive patient outcome.
Years at Broward Health: 12.5
What motivates me to come to work each day: Working with our supportive interdisciplinary team and colleagues at Broward Health Medical Center.
My favorite Broward Health moment: When I was awarded the 2016 Broward Health Medical Center’s Brightest Star, as well as graduating from Broward Health Leadership University.
Some advice I’d give to a new employee just starting their career in healthcare: Ask yourself first and always when helping others, is his how I would treat someone I love? If the answer is yes, do that! You should always be proud of what you do.
How I like to relax: Baking pies, writing a novel, practicing yoga and spending time with my family and our two Pekingese puppies.
What I’m most proud of personally or professionally: I’m a 23-year breast cancer survivor!
What’s on my playlist: Vanilla Ice Ice Baby! (If there was a problem, Yo I’ll solve it!)
If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, alive or dead, it would be: I think it would be pretty cool to break bread with Sir Winston Churchill—“Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.”
