As VP of supply chain and chief procurement officer, Hernandez will be responsible for the effective management and direction of the centralized and decentralized operational areas of material services including: acquisition, associated finance and accounting functions, product and supply contract implementation, and MMIS systems support. Hernandez will ensure that departmental operations and procedures for procurements of supplies, equipment and services are consistent throughout the Broward Health System.
Previously, Hernandez was with Tenet Healthcare in various positions handling supply chain services for several hospitals in its system. In his most recent role he served as assistant vice president and senior director of supply chain services for Tenet Healthcare’s Eastern Region - Coastal Division hospitals in Massachusetts, South Carolina and Florida where he oversaw all contracting and sourcing activity in the cardiology service line. He also led the purchasing and accounts payable consolidation for all Tenet Florida facilities, improving operational performances and reducing variation in practices across the region.
With almost 20 years of healthcare supply chain experience, he has also worked at Larkin Community Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center, HCA/South Dade Service Center and Miami Heart Institute.
