Meet Dr. Mushtaq
What is your complete name and official physician title: Faraaz Mushtaq, DO, Cardiologist
What is your area of specialty? Clinical cardiology
How long have your worked at Broward Health? Two years
Describe the moment you knew you wanted to be a doctor: My father, who is also a cardiologist, is my biggest inspiration. As a child, I always wondered why he would come home so late, and then have to abruptly get up from the dinner table to go back to the hospital again. He finally took me to work with him one day to show me the hospital, and from there, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.
What do you most want people to know about the way you practice medicine? In this day and age, where encounters with physicians are often just a few minutes and a doctor's face is often buried in a computer screen, what I still enjoy the most about my job is the human connection.
What’s one health and wellness tip you wish all your patients would follow? Take at least 5 to 10 minutes every day for yourself to de-stress.
What have you learned from your patients? The art of medicine cannot be simplified as a mere series of diagnostic tests, medications, and procedures. It is about real human connection, understanding, and compassion.
