Support Children's Diagnostic & Treatment Center's Back-to-School Drive

Back-to-school season is just a few weeks away and Broward Health wants to ensure that kids have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

The Children's Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) is currently hosting its annual back-to-school drive to provide our community's special needs and economically disadvantaged children with new backpacks filled with notebooks, pens, rulers and more. The CDTC has hosted the fundraiser for more than a decade, collecting supplies for 870 children just last year. With the community's help, CDTC hopes to increase the number of children assisted this year.

Donations of backpacks, spiral notebooks, rulers, composition books, pens, crayons, markers and other items are needed for the fundraiser. If you are interested in hosting a backpack drive, please visit the CDTC back to school Drive page. While you’re there, be sure to download a copy of the event flyer and an image you can share on your social media channels.

For a family facing financial hardships or a child with medical challenges, it can be difficult finding the funds or time to pick up much-needed school supplies. This is the perfect opportunity for the community to step in and ensure these amazing kids can enter the classroom prepared and ready to learn. Picking up a few extra items during your next trip to the store can make a world of difference for these young CDTC patients and their families.

Please join us for this year’s fundraising drive, which runs now through August 9. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm at CDTC, 1401 S Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. For more information or to schedule a delivery, contact Vickie Walter at 954.728.1095 or [email protected].

CDTC serves more than 11,000 children annually and is dedicated to providing medical care, case management, social services and other types of intervention to children and adolescents with chronic illnesses and development disabilities and to provide support and education to their families.
