Fort Lauderdale, Florida -- Broward Health has promoted two of its finance leaders. Modesto Gato has been named AVP of Finance for the system, and Onel Rodriguez has been named CFO of Broward Health Medical Center.
Gato will provide strategic leadership and system-wide oversight of the daily operations of general accounting and financial planning. He joined Broward Health in January 2016 as regional director of finance at Broward Health Medical Center, where he was responsible for reporting all financial information and analysis for internal and external users, and was later promoted to regional director of financial management for Broward Health. Prior to joining Broward Health, he served as director of finance at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, where he directed the hospital's financial management department.
“I am confident Modesto will continue to make a significant impact on our healthcare system,” said Alex Fernandez, senior vice president and CFO of Broward Health.
An accomplished executive with more than a decade of experience overseeing financial operations for complex healthcare systems, Rodriguez joined Broward Health in October 2017 as CFO of Broward Health Coral Springs. In that role, he was responsible for the administration, development and implementation of financial and accounting operations. Prior to joining Broward Health, Rodriguez was vice president of finance at JFK Medical Center’s main and north campuses, where he oversaw revenue enhancements, cost-saving initiatives, accounting improvements and preparation of reports for management on key financial metrics for the 245-bed hospital.
“Onel has extensive experience in strategic planning and cost-saving initiatives,” said Fernandez, “and we look forward to his continued leadership at our flagship hospital.”
