Meet Jonathan Turton
Title and Department: Chief Executive Officer, Broward Health Medical Center and Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital
Years at Broward Health: 3 months
What motivates me to come to work each day: Each opportunity to help someone achieve their potential—whether it's a patient, colleague or physician.
My favorite Broward Health moment: Learning about the privilege and honor of being selected as the chief executive officer of such an outstanding hospital in this great South Florida community.
Some advice I’d give to a new employee just starting their career in healthcare: Find your passion and keep that foremost in all that you do. Stay organized in your life and your organization’s priorities. First is always safety, quality and great patient experience in all that we do!
How I like to relax: I love doing outdoor activities with family like boating, fishing, golf and college football tailgating. I hope to be a rancher when I slow down later on.
What I’m most proud of personally or professionally: Being the father of Ryan and Colby. I simply love being their Dad! At least while I can still beat them at golf.
What's on my music playlist: I love the music of the Texas “Red Dirt” musicians like Pat Green and Robert Earl Keen. I’m also a pretty big Kenny Chesney fan.
If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, living or dead, who would it be and why: While my brothers and I were growing up, we had the best family dinners with Gramma Gert and Grampa Bob around the big round wooden table with the Lazy Susan. I can’t think of anything that I enjoy more than breaking bread with family. I did have a Grandmother who I never got to know. I do think I would have liked to have shared time and a meal with her. If family isn’t available, I’d love to share a steak and whiskey dinner with John Wayne.
